Emergence to Phase 3: the COVID-19 pandemic continues

We are in uncharted territory in an era marked by the COVID-19 pandemic. As British Columbia gradually emerges and we start into Phase 3, businesses are starting to open, and people are starting to emerge from their strict isolation practices. We still need to be vigilant and be careful, as rates of transmission are greater if we do not practice social distancing and if people are not wearing masks when 2 m of social distancing cannot be maintained. Our move into Phase 3 still requires our full attention to minimize asymptomatic spread of COVID-19. We cannot relent; we must stay alert and engaged.

As we move to start seeing patients in the clinic, we will be asking patients to think of others when we ask you to complete the COVID-19 self-check the day before. We see a highly specialized group of patients who are more susceptible to infections generally, and we wish to keep everyone safe and minimize risk.

When you arrive, please call our office at (250) 595-8111 from the parking lot so we can review your symptoms before entry into the clinic. We will be letting people into the clinic in staggered time intervals. We will also take your temperature and ask patients to bring and wear a mask for the entire time they are in the clinic. We will be socially distancing patients in the clinic and only allowing the adult patient or a child with a parent/guardian into the clinic for the assessment.

Please continue avoiding all antihistamines at least four days before your appointment and avoid taking tricyclic antidepressants for the week beforehand, as these medications will interfere with your testing.

Unfortunately, there will be no bathroom facilities for the public available with the current COVID-19 pandemic.

As we proceed forward with the new information that developed regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, we will continue to adjust our practices in the office to maintain the safety of all patients and staff. Take care and we hope to help you soon.
