A New Day

Updated: Sep 22

I feel we have all been following this emerging story with both curiosity and disbelief, not realizing how this new emerging pathogen COVID-19 would alter human behaviour on a global scale. A disease to which we have no cure, yet; medical researchers and human ingenuity are racing to find an answer to minimize the impact on the world’s population. Keep up with the updates on COVID-19 here at the BCCDC, the government of Canada, and the WHO.

At our clinic, we echo the recommendations provided by Dr. Bonnie Henry and the BCCDC. Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water. Do not touch your face, eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Be mindful and begin the practice of social distancing to help stop the spread.

If there are concerns that you might be exhibiting symptoms, call 811 to speak to nurses who will help sort out your symptoms and direct you with further instructions. We, the community, can do our part to help reduce the community-acquired cases and the progression of an international pathogen that recognizes no political borders.

At our office, we will be closed for the week of 16-20 March 2020 for Spring Break but should resume regular hours the following week. We would encourage patients to call 811 first, then call us in if one might be exhibiting signs or symptoms of infection. Changing to a virtual appointment would allow us to meet, but unfortunately, the testing and investigations might have to wait. We will try to keep our schedule as “routine” as possible despite these trying circumstances. For those patients receiving immunotherapy, please call in. We will discuss our next options to minimize both the disruption to your immunotherapy and the concerns regarding COVID-19.

Through helping our community, we get through this together. We hope to see you soon, but until then, be healthy.
